This is an extremely rare Archtop Artist the fourth ever created. The Archtop Artist itself was an extremely limited run of PRS guitars featuring some of the finest woods , and of course, that extra "artist" touch to the hardware elements (gold hardware, ebony knobs) to give it that extra level of polish.
This guitar features a flamed maple top and back with curly maple binding on the mahogany sides and neck, Brazilian rosewood fretboard with highly figured abalone inlays outlined in white gold, Brazilian rosewood headstock veneer, abalone "Paul Reed Smith" headstock inlay, two PRS Archtop humbucker pickups with gold covers and cream white bases, gold wraparound stoptail bridge, gold tuners with ebony knobs, and comes in a tortoise shell finish with a hardshell case. The guitar is siigned on the back of the headstock and is clearly marked "Archtop Artist #4.
This guitar is part of Clay Evans private collection that is being offered for sale exclusively at the Guitar Hangar. For those of you who do not know, Clay Evans was employed by Paul Reed Smith Guitars from 1986 through 2000 and went from Regional Sales Manager to President of the company. Every guitar in his collection is pristine, and has never been played. Many of them still had the protective foam wrap taped in place around the neck that all new PRS guitars are shipped with! Every guitar in his collection are made from woods carefully selected from Paul's private stash for their quality in tone as well as beauty.
