In 1989 Paul Reed Smith introduced a limited run of 300 semi-hollow double cutaway guitars - the PRS Limited Editions. Each of these guitars were unique in their own way, and many different woods were used for the tops, ranging from mahogany to rosewood or cedar. This guitar is the granddaddy of them all - the first prototype of this extremely limited run. It features an extremely sweet quilt maple top, a beautiful semi-hollow mahogany body, a mahogany neck with a Brazilian rosewood fretboard and highly figured abalone bird inlays, five-way rotary pickup selector with volume and tone knobs, 2 PRS single coil pickups and 1 PRS humbucker with gold pole pieces (this is how the prototype differs from the standard LE), Tune-o-matic style bridge with stopbar tailpiece, gold hardware, and comes in a cherryburst finish. Hardshell case included. This guitar was also signed on the back of the headstock by Paul Reed Smith. This guitar is truly one of a kind! This guitar is part of Clay Evans private collection that is being offered for sale exclusively at the Guitar Hangar. For those of you who do not know, Clay Evans was employed by Paul Reed Smith Guitars from 1986 through 2000 and went from Regional Sales Manager to President of the company. Every guitar in his collection is pristine, and has never been played. Many of them still had the protective foam wrap taped in place around the neck that all new PRS guitars are shipped with! Every guitar in his collection are made from woods carefully selected from Paul's private stash for their quality in tone as well as beauty. Each guitar was selected as the prime example of the line it represented... to put it in simple terms, the very best of the best. Many are prototypes or very low numbers in limited runs. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire the absolute top shelf in modern collectible guitars. If you have any questions, please call me personally! Rick Tedesco
