The A-500 is Bourgeois' top of the line Archtop. It is exquisitely appointed yet retains the understated elegance that is the hallmark of fine archtops the world over. The A-500 features a solid premium select spruce top with two f-holes and a solid premium curly maple back and sides for excellent tone. The ebony snakehead style headstock has the bourgeois logo inlaid in pearl and a solid pearl truss rod cover which hides the double action truss rod. The three-piece curly maple neck has an elevated 20-fret ebony fret board with Deco Block fingerboard inlay and a glossy finish. An adjustable ebony bridge with gold thumb wheels leads to a gold plated tailpiece with ebony insert, and a floating ebony pickguard adds detailed contrast to the exceptional shape of the body. This A-500 also comes with gold Schaller tuners w/ebony knobs, and the neck, headstock, body, sides, and pickguard are all bound with ivoroid bindings with black/white purfling. The guitar is polished with a glossy blonde finish which looks exceptional. What sets this guitar apart from other A-500's, however, is the inclusion of an EMG 91 floating pickup right after the fretboard. The pickup has been expertly installed and is surrounded with a gold plated border to add class to the installation. To quote our luthier: "it's like a cannon!". Comes with a hardshell case. This guitar is part of an estate sale from the passing of John Patrick Welch, a geniunely nice guy and avid guitar collector that I had the privledge of knowing and working with. We have several guitars here that John had aquired over the last 15 years. All of these guitars were kept in a climate controlled viewing facility and were kept in pristine condition at all times. Many are one offs built to his specifications by some of todays top luthiers using the most exotic tonewoods available. Money was no object in Johns quest for the ultimate in craftsmanship and tone. For more info on any of these guitars, please do not hesitate to contact me personally. Rick Tedesco
From Ben Soto, John Patrick Welch had such a passion for life, love, music and people. Everywhere he went and came across people who shared the same passion he did, it would give him great joy. John left a strong impact wherever he went and left a life impression on all those he met and shared his life with. Born July 27th 1945 John lived a full and wonderful life and left this earth on April 14th 2003 but his legend and legacy lives on always with those who had the chance to meet John and spend time with him while he was here with us.
